Northern Lights Tour

A clear dark sky and high solar activity can provide an evening light show that is worth staying up into the wee hours. Enjoy a crackling wood stove, hot beverages and snacks. Our northern lights tour package includes return transportation from your hotel, leaving Yellowknife at 9 pm and returning approximately 1:30 am. Viewing stops include one city destination and a designated location on the Ingraham Trail. Snacks and hot beverages included. Viewing hours can be extended. Minimum capacity: 2 guests.

Hiking Tour ~ Cameron Waterfalls

Just beyond the City limits you can enjoy a scenic drive on the Ingraham Trail to the Cameron Falls trailhead where you can take a short hike (approximately 1.2 km) to view the falls. Highlights and possible stops along the way include the outdoor Mining Heritage Display at Giant Mine and the Yellowknife River where you will learn about the Yellowknife River Legend, a piece of Dene history. Total time for this tour is approximately 4-5 hours in length. This tour can be adapted to meet your interests. Minimum capacity: 2 guests.

Capital Sites Walking Tour

Your guided walk will take you around the capital sites area of Yellowknife where you will be shown many of Yellowknife’s public offices, they include: Yellowknife City Hall, the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre as well as the NWT Legislative Assembly. The walk takes you along a part of the Pat McMahon Trail and through the ceremonial circle. Minimum capacity 2 guests, maximum 6.

Viewing Caribou on the Tundra

Ann Timmins, one of our tour guides, is an artist who lives in Yellowknife. She’s also visited our lodge on the barrenlands at Point Lake, destination of two of our custom trips. Ann was completely taken with the tundra at the lodge: “There are times in my life when I have realized that I am living completely in the moment. Our journey to Caribou Bay at Peterson’s Point Lake Lodge was an entire week of being absorbed minute by minute, on the land. The everyday distractions were eliminated; I felt only the peace of walking on the warm carpet of tundra, searching the horizon for wildlife, and being captivated by the miniature colour world of each lichen and flora patch.”

Ann continues: “As I painted Caribou Bay back in my studio in Yellowknife, I realized how the image in my memory came together so effortlessly. The caribou appeared watching us as we landed on the shore, the caribou were engulfed by the gold, orange and red bushes, and as the caribou headed towards the hills, I became a small being alone on the land.”
