Walk through an historic cemetery before journeying on snow-packed trails to see one of Yellowknife’s hidden treasures. The strikingly beautiful frozen waterfall is known locally as the ice caves. Our guide will drive to the one of the walking trail access points at Yellowknife’s earliest cemetery. From there you will follow a winding path between trees and rocks to the frozen waterfalls in the midst of typical Taiga valley. Although best viewed towards the end of winter when they are at the largest, the ice falls are picturesque throughout their entire formation. You’ll want to be sure to bring your camera. This tour also includes a tour of the Yellowknife’s Old Town and, depending on the season, the Dettah ice road.
Tour length is approximately 2 ½ hours. Cleats for traction are provided and walking poles are available as well. Enjoy a hot beverage and homemade cookie. Overall great value for the price.
Special Notes: Guests need warm clothing to hike into the Icefalls and we have you covered with our Winter Clothing Rentals.
