Rich in history the Prince of Wales Museum is a story board full of facts and legends of the area. From time immemorial this land has been the traditional lands of the indigenous peoples of the North, priceless artifacts that piece together our histories have been collected and stored for generations to continue to enjoy and learn from. The Museum is part of the Capital Area, tucked between the Legislative Assembly and City Hall.
From the Prince of Wales we will venture to the Yellowknife Historical Museum at the base of what use to be Giant Mine. Both an indoor and outdoor exhibit, Yellowknife’s mining history is what spearheaded this settlement turned city in 1934. Throughout the heritage museum you can follow along as we witness the early years to the present and the creation of a city we call home.
